Online Parenting & Perinatal Therapy Across Ontario & Alberta

Self-Led Parenting

Parenting can bring out parts of you that you may not recognize. You snap, yell, control, shut down, or react, then feel guilty and promise yourself you will handle it differently next time. But the trigger comes back, and so does the cycle.

Self-Led Parenting offers a different way. Instead of simply trying to control the reaction, we look at what is happening underneath it, so you can respond with greater clarity, compassion, honesty, and choice.

Perinatal Mental Health, Pregnancy & Postpartum Support

Pregnancy and postpartum can intensify anxiety, intrusive thoughts, overwhelm, irritability, identity changes, relationship conflict, and fears about becoming a parent.

Support may include perinatal anxiety, postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression, intrusive thoughts, birth trauma, mom rage, parenting stress, identity changes after motherhood, and relationship changes after baby.

The work is not only about reducing symptoms. We also explore what this transition is bringing forward emotionally and relationally.

Parental Triggers, Mom Rage & the Guilt Cycle

You react.
You feel terrible.
You apologize.
You promise yourself it will be different next time.
Then another difficult moment arrives and the reaction comes back.

Therapy can help you recognize the cycle earlier, understand what activates it, and create enough space to respond with greater clarity, compassion, honesty, and choice.

Breaking Intergenerational Parenting Patterns with IFS

Maybe you promised yourself:

“I will never parent the way I was parented.”

Yet under stress, something familiar comes out.

Through Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-focused therapy, trauma work, and conscious parenting, we explore the parts of you that criticize, control, protect, avoid, over-function, shut down, or react.

Instead of asking:

“What is wrong with me?”

We begin asking:

“What is happening inside me right now?”
“What is this reaction trying to protect?”
“Is an old pattern leading this moment?”
“What would I choose if I had more clarity?”

Is Self-Led Parenting Right for You?

This work may resonate if you:

• React more strongly than you want to
• Feel guilty after yelling or losing patience
• Worry about repeating your parents' patterns
• Feel overwhelmed by the responsibility of parenting
• Struggle with control, perfectionism, or anxiety
• Shut down or disconnect during conflict
• Feel that motherhood has changed your sense of identity
• Experience pregnancy or postpartum anxiety
• Want to understand your triggers rather than simply manage them
• Want a different relationship with your child than the one you experienced growing up

When Parenting Brings Out a Version of You You Do Not Like

You may have a part that becomes impatient, another that needs everything under control, one that worries constantly, or one that disconnects when parenting feels like too much.

Sometimes the intensity of the reaction is not only about what your child is doing today. Parenting can awaken experiences, expectations, fears, and patterns from your own childhood.

Together, we begin to understand what these reactions are protecting and what your system actually needs.

Conscious Parenting Without Losing Yourself

Conscious parenting does not mean always being calm, endlessly patient, or making your child the centre of everything.

It means becoming aware of what belongs to your child and what belongs to you.

We work toward parenting from greater clarity rather than guilt, fear, control, perfectionism, or unresolved experiences from the past.

Your child does not need a perfect parent. They need a parent who can notice, repair, reconnect, and continue growing.

A Different Way to Parent

Self-Led Parenting brings together IFS, conscious parenting, attachment, perinatal mental health, and trauma-informed therapy.

The goal is to help you notice when a protective part has taken over, understand why it is there, and create enough space for something different to happen.

Not perfect parenting.

More awareness. More choice. More repair. More connection.
